S.
Hripsime Church of 618, built to the right of the main road on
the traditional site of this martyr’s tomb-traditionally; she
and her virgin followers came escaping persecution in Rome and
were put to death by King Tiridates; her relics were allegedly
pilfered in the 17th century by two Latin monks, but then
recovered, except for fragments which by 1830 had reached churches
in Venice, Goa in India, Nakhichevan, and Galata in
Constantinople.
