Ijevan Town is in one of
the picturesque places of mountainous
Armenia, Tavush Region. Ijevan Winery OJSC is located on
the bank of the
beautiful
river Aghstev.
The winery was established in 1976 as a wine material producer
for other wineries with a processing capacity of 10.000 tons
of grapes per year. It has different facilities for receiving,
sorting and cracking grapes, and facilities for wine
production, aging, and storage. The winery is located close to
white and red grape vineyards.

The winery was privatized in 1995 but had financial
problems at that time. However, the President of the Board
Mr. Avetis Galstyan and the owners did not give up and invited
25 specialists
to join the company and create a modern winery. The efforts of
several years resulted in the production of dry and semidry
wine brands and installation of the bottling line.

Very soon White, Red and Rose Ijevan, Gayane, Nazeli,
Haghartsin, Saperavi, Vazashen and Khachkar wines gained high
reputation in the local market due to the quality and nice
design of the product. In 2000 the winery produced 105.232 and
sold 80.998 bottles of wines, leaving the remainder for aging.
The wines were exported through EcoWine & Spirit, UniLine,
SokoFram, Tavinko and Astroi companies and successfully
introduced to the USA, French, and Russian markets. In 2001,
Russian Tavinco Company imported 25.000 bottles of different
wines and successfully introduced them to the consumers of
Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In 2002 50.000 bottles of
wine has been exported to the US and 14.000 bottles to France.
40.000 bottles were shipped to Siberia, Russia, 1.000 bottles
to Belarus, and 30.000 to Moscow, Russia.
