Jermuk,
on the Arpa river, 2080 m elevation. Named for the hot springs (up to 65°
C),
source of the famous fizzy
water. There is a picturesque
waterfall, interesting walks, a rock
formation in the shape of Vardan Mamikonian, caves
and the possibility of a cure
of most human ailments
at
one of the many sanatoriums.

rich village in

right turns (S) at or just after the main turnoff for Gndevaz and Jermuk
leads to
Artavan, with 18th c. bridge,
cemetery (khachkars of the 10-15th c.), probably a fief of Tatev.
