Left from the road is the village
of Tsaghkahovit
(till 1946 Haji Khalil). The latter has substantial Late Bronze Age (ca. 1100) through
Urartian remains on the hill to the E, the Kalachi Amrots
castle. A joint team of U.S.
and Armenian archaeologists has begun
excavation of the fortress atop the hill, the houses spread out to the
S and the cemeteries
nearby. |

Next, just on the road, is the Yezidi village of Amre
Taza (till 1978 Karavansara).
