   Just N of  Mrganush  is  Getazat (till 1948 Aghjaghshlagh).

   Artashat  is  the  modern  capital  of Ararat Marz, deriving its name from ancient Artaxiata, “Joy of Artashes”. This large, planned town, known till 1945 as Ghamarlu, was founded in 1828-29 by migrants from Persia.
