ASSISTANCE PROJECT in ARMENIA

The Marketing Assistance Project (MAP) is an agribusinness
development project in Armenia managed by the U. S. Department of
Agriculture (USDA). MAP was established in 1996 to assist farmers
and agribusinesses in producing, marketing and exporting food and
related products to increase incomes, crate jobs, and raise the
standard of living for rural Armenians. Funding for MAP comes from
Freedom Support Act appropriations which are transferred to
the USDA, Office of International Programms.
MAP provides technical, financial and marketing assitance
to over 50 small and medium-sized agribusinesses throughout Armenia.
MAP's clients
include wineries, fruit
and vegetable processors, cheese makers, water bottlers, livestock
breedrs, seed and feed producers, and other agribusinesses.
